The AP polls have ranked the Alabama Crimson Tide at the number 5th position and the offshore places have predicted they would be a 20 to 1 longshot to win the National Championship. Nick Saban enters his 3rd year on the side lines at Alabama and he went 12-2 SU last season and he’s got the Crimson Tides fans believing now.

Alabama started the 2008 season with a victory as a +4.5 point underdog vs. the Clemson Tigers, but they won’t have an easy time out of the gate, as they step up to the plate vs. Frank Beamers Virginia Tech Hokies on Sept 5th. Believe it or not, the Crimson Tide have only face the Hokies once since 1996 and it was Dec 29th 1998 and they lost 38-7 to the Hokies as a -4.5 point favorite.
