The most dangerous hockey team in the world is a team playing with confidence!
Right now the only difference between 5th and 11th place in the Western Conference is 5 points! In fact, a bad weekend can have players looking for a tee off time in April, rather then trying to find tickets for family and friends. If you’re a hockey bettor, it’s a great time of year to be wagering, because there’s tons of value on some live underdogs and each game seems to have some type of playoff implication or tone.
The NHL trading deadline has passed and now we know who the sellers and buyers were and which teams are loaded with draft picks for the 2011 NHL entry draft. However, from a betting perspective, you can find great value on teams like the Ottawa Senators and NY Islanders who are looking to finish off the season on a high note and they bring great value to your parlay ticket.
Here’s a list of the top 10 most dangerous teams you don’t want to be playing right now, because some of these teams have nothing to lose and the pressure is off. Plus, these are teams the Sportsbooks aren’t respecting “value wise” and most of these teams are receiving great goaltending and more importantly winning road games.
1. San Jose Sharks: The Sharks have won 9 of their last 10 games and they are 6-1 SU at home since February 1st. Sharks goalie Antti Niemi has been a key reason why San Jose has enjoyed success and more importantly, they are 8-2 SU on the road since Feb 1st. The Sharks are 4-1 SU as a dog the last 45 days. That’s money…
2. New Jersey Devils: Imagine if Lou Lamorrello would have put Jacques Lemaire in place earlier, the Devils would be jockeying for a playoff position in the Eastern Conference. The Ottawa Senators stun the Devils earlier this week, but you don’t want to be facing this Devils team right now, they are 20-5 SU the last 60 days.
3. Washington Capitals: The Washington Capitals have made defense their top priority and they’ve changed their style of play the last 2 months. Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau realized his team needed to enter the playoffs with a defensive mentality and the team has committed to some type of trap or shut down system. Don’t believe me? Explain why the UNDER is 16-3-0 the last 45 days then?
4. Chicago Blackhawks: Never doubt the defending Stanley Cup champions; they are doing all of this winning with a goalie named Corey Crawford who stole the #1 job from veteran netminder Marty Turco. The Hawks are playing .500 hockey on the road the last 45 days, but they are money at home, usually! Pick your spots betting on them and never lay more then -140 on them.
5. Calgary Flames: Have goalie, let’s travel! Mikka Kiprusoff is currently tied with Carey Price for the league lead in wins with 32 and he’s a major reason why the Flames are talking playoff hockey in Alberta. Let’s face it, we counted the Flames down and out under the Darryl Sutter regime, but Jay Feaster has brought a new environment to the “job” and its working! The Flames are 9-2 SU at home the last 45 days and 5-2 SU on the road. You have to win those road games down the stretch to make the playoffs and with a good goalie like Kipper between the pipes, easy money!
6. Vancouver Canucks: The thing that makes the Canucks a dangerous team, it’s not their goaltending, but their inconsistency. You just never know what you’re going to get with Alain Vigneault hockey team and if they lose a few games and start getting the dog tag from the sportsbook, then they are worth the shot.
7. Phoenix Coyotes: The Phoenix Jets, Urghhhh. I mean Coyotes have some good veteran leadership in the room and that’s huge on the road. So, who picked Keith Yandle in their pool in September? The Coyotes are hovering around the .500 mark the last 30 days and that’s a great reason why you should be looking for them on your parlay ticket off a lost. That’s a Law of average rule 101. Plus, Bryzkalov has 28 wins this season!
8. Anaheim Ducks: Let’s hope Jonas Hillier can return to the line up, because they are more dangerous with him in the line up. However, they picked up Dan Ellis at the trade deadline and when players like Perry, Getzlaf, Koivu and Selanne are in the line up, you never know! Great win over the Rangers on Wednesday and they are a team who will fly under the radar down the stretch.
9. Montreal Canadiens: Nothing brings a team together closer then playing for a fallen teammate. It will be interesting to see how the Habs will rally around Pacioretty and with Carey Price between the pipes; you can win on any given night. If Price can win 75% of his games down the stretch, the Vezina will have his named engraved in July and maybe, just maybe, they will start talking about him for MVP. Canadiens are a great road underdog to bet on.
10. Los Angeles Kings: It’s funny how the western teams hardly get any love, maybe it’s because they aren’t on the highlights enough on the east coast, because most of their games finish past midnight. The Kings are one of those streaky teams and should Bernier be able to give Jonathan Quick some nights off and win the odd start, it will be huge for L.A. on making the playoffs. Consistency is always a question surrounding the Kings, but they go into the Joe and steal one from Detroit and that’s how you make money betting on hockey.

Plus, if you’re making your bracket picks and you don’t need to take the point spread, it’s the perfect sports betting software to help you pick a winner straight up.
