Canadian Open Golf Tournament Odds – RBC Canadian Open
First of all, a golf tournament with a purse of $5.1 million dollars should be able to draw a way better field then it’s going to draw this week at Glenn Abbey. Granted, the British Open or “The Open Championship” was played last week, but this should not be an excuse to get a better field, as some of the big names have committed to the tournament. Kudos to all the Golfers in the top 25 rankings who will make the trek to Canada and we hope you have a wonderful stay in this great country.
No Tiger Woods again for the RBC Canadian Open this year; I believe the last time he played in Canada was the year 2000, so he’s about due to pay the Canadians another visit. However, the way Tiger Woods has been playing of late, heck, the Canadian Open would have been more than happy to have the “humble” Tom Watson come to the Canadian Open this weekend at Glenn Abbey Golf and Country Club. Perception is everything in sports and Tiger Woods is on the verge of losing many fans because of the way he’s coming through on Television. Tiger Woods is a professional golfer and to start hammering his driver and irons into the ground after a bad shot is going to start taking a negative effect on his image and he’s pretty close at coming across as a sore loser. Let’s face it, Tiger hasn’t won or even come close to winning a Major since the US Open last year and the way he’s been snickering with the crowds and how the microphones are picking up swear words at a low whisper, is not making us want to cheer for him. Something to work on Tiger!
Nevertheless, the guy is a fantastic golfer and it would be nice to see him look like he’s not fighting the crowds and come across like he's having fun again.

2009 Canadian Open Odds
The Canadian Open favorite to win the tournament is South African Golfer Retief Goosen. In fact, Goosen played at the British Open last weekend and was in the mix of thing until a double bogey on the 15th hole took him right out of contention, but still finished tied for 5th place.
Camilo Villegas is +1600 to win the Canadian Open this weekend, meaning if you wagered $100 on Villegas to win, he would net you $1600 should he hoist the trophy on Sunday.
Canadian golfers Mike Weir (+1600) and Stephen Ames (+3000) are the top listed Canadians who have the best shot at winning the Canadian Open.

Ron Raymond’s 2009 Canadian Open Golf Prediction
Out of the 3 golfers I gave to win the 2009 British Open last weekend, Retief Goosen was the one who gave us value and nearly snuck his way to the top, but the bogey on 15th really cost him and us a pay day. However, it was a good pick and when you’re betting on golf, you just want to make sure you pick a golfer who will be around on Sunday and give you a shot.
Now, I’ve come with up with my Canadian Open Golf predictions for this week and I’m going to pull one out of left field and take John Daly +15000 to win the 2009 Canadian Open. JD seems to be back on track when it comes to getting his life together; he’s a great person who is constantly fighting his demons and wants to find happiness in his life again. Plus, when John is in a zone, he’s very tough to beat. More importantly, he seems to be at peace with his life and hopefully he has peace of mind. Plus, the Canadian public absolutely loves John Daly and he loves coming to Canada. JD will have a huge following this week and if he can stay the course and play the way he played during the British Open, he could have a shot on Sunday.
Ron’s Gold – Silver and Bronze Selections

- Silver Pick: Sean O’Hair +2000
