Ron’s Preview: The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are hitting the google search engines for a new Quarterback and might of found one in Michael Bishop. Michael Bishop who played his College Football with the Kansas State Wildcats and several CFL teams including the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Toronto Argonauts, might get the nod this week for Thursday’s game vs. the Double Blue.
It’s getting ugly in the Peg! Blue Bombers head coach Mike Kelly did something in my view that is a coach killer and a good way to get fired, you never joke around and ask reporters if they can throw the football or embarrassed the play of your current QB’s. During the halftime interview with TSN’s Sara Orlevsky, Kelly asked her if she can throw the ball, in my view, this tells me all I need to know about the head coach’s leadership. As a CFL Football head coach, your job at the head of a football team is to be the main positive image for your club, players look up to their leaders for inspiration and when your leader is comparing your skills to a female reporter and asking her if she can throw a football, then you’ve lost the respect of your soldiers. I’ve spent 5 years in the military and there’s a “pride” line you never cross, and Kelly crossed that line when he publicly embarrassed the performance of his 3 QB’s in which he threw to the wolves to get his team out of the situation he put them in. Granted, the QB’s throw the football, but it’s the offensive coordinators job to take each QB’s skill sets and put them in the best position necessary to succeed. Plus, the fact the Bombers were caught spying on the Tiger Cats practice in Week 3, tells me it’s time to cut ties with Mike Kelly. No matter if they were spying on the Cats or not; “where there’s smoke there’s fire!” There are too many negatives at this time which are out weighting the positives.
The Bombers travel to Toronto for their revenge game against the Boatmen, and they are 5-15-1 SU and 8-13-0 ATS at the Rogers Center as a road team vs. the Argonauts. The Argos finally found the win column since Week 1 and their defense was exceptional vs. Winnipeg, holding Blue Bombers running back Fred Reid to only 32 yards. The UNDER is 8-2-0 for the Bombers in their last 10 games as a road underdog and it’s on a 3-0 streak. Furthermore, the UNDER is 8-2-0 for Winnipeg vs. Eastern Division opponents in their last 10 road trips.
The Argonauts defense played exceptionally well on Thursday, but the Bombers lack of a passing game allowed them to throw 7 to 8 man in the box. The Argonauts are 22-5 SU at home after winning a game by 14 points or more win since 1996.
ATSDatabase.com System of the Game: When a TORONTO team played at home and they are coming off a game where they scored between 18 to 20 POINTS FOR; The UNDER is 10-4-0 for the Argos in this role since 1996.
