Montreal (-2.0) vs. Saskatchewan (54.0)
Ron’s Analysis: The Saskatchewan Roughriders could be in for a long season if they don’t fix their front four on the defensive line, as they didn’t bring any pressure in their 42-28 lost to the Edmonton Eskimos last Sunday. In fact, if you thought Rickey Ray picked them apart, just wait until the league’s best passer the last decades gets a shot at them this Saturday. Anthony Calvillo didn’t miss a beat last week vs. the BC. Lions and the Alouettes were consistent on special teams. Saskatchewan doesn’t seem to have a big “go to receiver” and finding a replacement for Fantuz will be extremely tough. Look for Alouettes Marc Trestman to out fox the new head coach in Saskatchewan and expect this game to get away from the Green and White in the second half.
ATS Trends: When MONTREAL team played as Road team as a Favorite - Coming off a 4-7 point Home win; the Alouettes are 9-3 SU and 8-4 ATS since 1996.
When ANY CFL Team played as a pk to 3 Underdog -Vs Non Division Opponent -Playing on Saturday -Vs Non Conference Opponent - Coming off a 1 game over; the Underdog (SSK) is 4-8 SU & ATS in this spot.
Ron’s forecast: Montreal 41 Saskatchewan 20
Ron’s Pick: Montreal -2.0 (5*)
Hamilton (52.0) vs. Edmonton (-1.5)
Ron’s Analysis: Nothing the Edmonton Eskimos did last week surprised me, as I predicted they would cover and win the game straight up! In fact, I was very impressed with new Offensive Coordinator Marcus Crandell play calling last week, spreading the ball through the air and ground and it kept the Roughriders guessing. Hamilton has the potential to have a split dressing room, they pulled starting QB Kevin Glenn in the second half of their 24-16 lost to Winnipeg and with Avon Cobourne in the room now, things could explode if he gets vocal. It’s too early to know what exactly the problem with this offense, but I’m thinking it’s maybe an offensive line issue because of all the interceptions and sacks. However, the Tiger Cats have 2 wins in 10 years in Edmonton at Commonwealth Stadium and with a fired up home crowd on opening day, could be the start of a long season for the black and gold in Steel town.
ATS Trends: When HAMILTON played as Road Underdog- with Total between 51.5 and 54; the Tigercats are 2-18 SU in this spot in their last 20 games.
When ANY CFL Team played as a Home team -Total is between 51.5 to 54 - Coming off a 1 ATS win - Allowed scored 28 points or less against - Coming off a Road win as a Underdog; the Home Team (EDM) is 9-4-2 ATS and 9-2 SU.
Ron’s forecast: Edmonton 29 Hamilton 11
Ron’s Pick: Edmonton -1.5 (2*)
