It’s easy to forget about Blake Griffin these days with the Los Angeles Clippers and their never ending irrelevance, the Miami Heat fielding the greatest trio to hit the hard court and 2010 first overall rookie John Wall getting all the rookie attention over in Washington. But the 2009 first overall pick hasn’t let any of that distract him so far in his debut season.
After missing all of what would have been his rookie year with an injury to his knee, Griffin has finally arrived in Los Angeles for real, and he’s been kicking ass and taking names ever since he got there. With four Clippers games on the schedule between now and November 8th, there will be plenty of opportunities to catch the potential Rookie of the Year in action.
On one hand Griffin has the potential to step in and be a top tier power forward from the get-go, on the other hand the Clippers appear to be as lousy as they’ve ever been, dropping their first three games of the 2010-11 by a combined 44 points.
According to the Bodog Sportsbook, the Clippers have 125/1 odds of winning this year’s NBA championship. If anything, those are generous because the Clips have no legitimate shot at winning the title but, that doesn’t mean they are a lost cause when it comes to individual game play or player props.
Over the course of the season, Bodog’s online Sportsbook has NBA player props available 24/7 predicting how many points and rebounds players will bring down in a particular game. Given that Griffin posted double doubles in each of his first two games as a pro, despite his Clipper status, last year’s No. 1 is a pretty safe bet.
